Ah yes, I feel safer already; the TSA is on the ball. Starting today US authorities will enhance security by what could be called "inefficient profiling", since we are not interested in efficient profiling.
I quote: anyone traveling from or through nations regarded as state sponsors of terrorism — as well as "other countries of interest" — will be required to go through enhanced screening. The Transportation Security Administration said those techniques included full-body pat-downs, carry-on bag searches, full-body scanning and explosive detection technology.
The U.S. State Department lists Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria as state sponsors of terrorism. The U.S. said other countries whose passengers should face enhanced screening include Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen.
Which one of the above countries seems the odd man out here?
When was the last time a Cuban ran a plane into one of our skyscrapers?! The above pictured mode of transportation does not seem too much of a threat. And how many Cubans actually fly over to this nation? Most of them try to come in by water as refugees, on make shift rafts, not as terrorists on airliners.
So why put Cuba on the list?! My guess, as usual, when it comes to political decisions, follow the money: see what politician is being paid by what group of Cuban ex-pats trying to piggy back their agenda onto national security decisions. The assholes must have contributed a boatload, pun intended, to the Obama campaign.
...happy new year...
